Hello, my name is Jason Layton and I am a wrestling fanatic. This sport has done some wondrous things for my life and there is nothing I enjoy more than sharing its secrets with others. This website is packed with helpful information to help you improve; whether your goal is to earn a spot on the varsity team or to win a national championship, this website will help you get there. To skip to the videos, use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

I make my money through private lessons, group instruction, camps and clinics. If you are interested, take a look at the menu at the top of the screen.

About myself and this site:

I have been wrestling since 1995. Throughout my career I have studied the technical aspects of the sport rigorously. My high-school coach nicknamed me “The professor” due to my obsessive desire to understand exactly what made each technique work. When I became too old to wrestle competitively, I turned to one on one coaching; my ultimate goal is to create the next superstar. The wrestler so technically superior that he pins or tech-falls everyone he wrestles, at any level, quickly. I want to build a wrestler ready for college competition when he is a freshman in high-school. In the meantime, I study the sport with the fervor of a chess master as I wait for the perfect protégé.

One on one training is the most efficient way to learn this sport. Due to the overwhelming technical nature of certain movements, it makes advanced techniques nearly impossible to learn in a group setting (without confusing most of the group for the benefit of the few individuals who are ready for the technique). Most of my time is spent coaching one on one, although I also coach in a team setting. What makes me different from other coaches is that I do not care how my team does as a whole. Wrestling is an individual sport, and although we keep team scores, and talk about which team is the best, when it comes down to it, it really is about each individual athlete. Therefore, my focus is to build individual champions. It may initially seem like a subtle distinction, but it takes my coaching strategies in a very different direction. I’m not concerned with winning individual matches and I’m not concerned with teaching moves that will only work up to a certain level. I’m interested in building athletes that will compete for national titles. I’m after long term improvement. I don’t care about winning; I care about improvement. When you are technically supreme, the winning will happen on its own.

The moves taught on this website are made for individuals. If you study (drill) them until you know them inside and out, you will be miles ahead of the competition.

It is better to lose trying to win, than win trying not to lose.
