Two-Thousand and Twenty
2020, a year that a lot of people will want to forget ever happened, and for many good reasons too. But it would be a shame to look the other way when this was a year like no other, a year that forced all of us to change and adapt to a new normal.
I can’t remember any other time in my life where everyone across the entire world was forced to change and adapt to new living arrangements in such a short time. That said, the real beauty in life is that we are all different, and we all interpret the world around us in a unique way based on our past experiences and the lens of culture that continuously shapes us.
I think it is essential that we all move forward but not without carefully understanding the lessons that the world just taught us. Here are some of the big ones that I came up with:
Your relationship with yourself is significant.
Human’s can adapt and even thrive in dire circumstances.
People’s true nature becomes exposed during chaotic times.
It’s essential to make an effort for those that are important to you.
Remote working is more efficient than working in an office (only in some cases, not all).
There is no substitute for face-to-face human contact.
I would encourage everyone to take some time to reflect on what this year has taught them and how we can use those lessons to become better prepared and more resilient in the face of adversity in the years to come. Although this wasn’t the year any of us expected, I think it would indeed be a waste if we didn’t learn anything from it.
