35 Lessons from my 34 years of life!
Birthdays are the best time for reflection, and since it’s almost the end of another lap around the sun for me, I thought I’d share my lessons (big and small, and in no particular order).
Physical exercise strengthens your mind just as much as it strengthens your body.
Failure and past performances don’t define you.
If you’re struggling with a problem, go for a walk or do some exercise.
Learn to say “no” to things more often than you say “yes”. Boundaries are important.
Don’t waste energy comparing yourself to others. Focus on being your best.
Eat and drink whatever you want, but do it in moderation.
Don’t obsess over money, but make sure you have enough to not stress over it.
Self-awareness, empathy and communication are three of the best skills to have in relationships.
You can ask for anything, but it doesn’t mean you’ll get what you want.
Enjoying what you do for work is far more important than how much you get paid.
Understand your value and what skills you bring to the table so you can be rewarded fairly.
It’s ok to have no work/life balance sometimes if you love your work so much that it becomes part of your life.
The family you choose is the best family you’ll ever have.
In dating, challenge yourself to find the good and beautiful things inside everyone. It's your job to find it, not their job to show you.
Never ask someone to do something you aren’t willing to do for others or yourself.
The best people in your life are the ones who will challenge you.
Never stop learning.
Making others feel good makes you feel amazing.
It’s ok to feel anxious and nervous; it means you really do care about the outcome.
If you need alcohol to have a great time, you’re in the wrong environment.
Always stand up straight and keep your shoulders back, don’t slouch.
Make regular eye contact and speak clearly, don’t avoid eye contact and fumble with your words.
It’s ok not to have all the answers; you will find them.
Take time to celebrate your achievements before chasing new goals.
People won’t remember what you say, but they will remember how you make them feel.
Doing hard things builds your confidence and increases your self-esteem.
Only gamble what you can afford to lose.
When it comes to your inner circle, quality over quantity.
Don’t feel guilty for taking the time to look after yourself.
Speed reading is a game changer.
Keep your standards high, and don’t settle for average.
Your phone can be a powerful tool, but it can also destroy your productivity and ability to focus. Technology cuts both ways.
Motivation is fleeting. Consistency and discipline will get you where you want to be.
Take risks, but always have a plan B.
Be grateful for all of the people in your life. It would be impossible without them.
